From TODAY's Newspaper
More buses and bus services have been added since the second half of last year to improve public transport in Punggol. But the news that over the next 15 years and beyond, Punggol will be twice the size of today's Ang Mo Kio housing estate, with an almost four-fold increase in number of flats to 100,000, has lead to some anxiety among existing and would-be residents.
There are 7 LRT stations in the western loop which are not opened yet. Currently, the estate is served by 1 MRT station, 8 LRT stations and a bus interchange with 11 trunk services to places such as AMK, Bishan, Serangoon Central, Tampines and Yishun. However, there is no direct bus service from Punggol to CBD area.
Currently, there are about 26,000 flats in Punggol. This number will eventually increase to 100,000, with about 48,000 new units slated for completion by 2016.
