Punggol Creative Cluster and Learning Corridor

The Creative Cluster, set aside for innovative new industries, will enjoy physical and programmatic links with the neighbouring Learning Corridor, safeguarded for a tertiary institution. The Creative Cluster and Learning Corridor are planned to include green links to the waterfront, as well as public spaces for the larger community to gather and enjoy the area, providing an attractive work, learn and play environment. Old Punggol Road, which runs through the Punggol Downtown area, will be retained as a heritage green that capitalises on the area’s unique topography. Along the waterfront, an active and lively Market Village will be planned with retail, dining and leisure options for workers, residents and students to relax and unwind.

New bus service starts operation

There's a new bus service looping around the estate!  Under the government's Bus Service Enhancement Programme (BESP), Bus Service 386 has commenced operations on 17 August 2014, Sunday.  Enjoy the added convenience. :)

New Safra Club in Punggol

SINGAPORE: National Servicemen and their families will soon have better and more facilities for recreation, Deputy Prime Minister and Coordinating Minister for National Security Teo Chee Hean announced on Wednesday (June 18).

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony for the new SAFRA club in Punggol, Mr Teo detailed plans for the club, which will be ready by early 2016.

The five-storey waterfront club, built at a cost of S$57 million, will offer gym, cycling and inline-skating facilities, restaurants, a bowling centre, spa and karaoke room. To cater to NSmen with children, the club will also house Singapore’s first indoor water playground and the island’s largest NurtureStars childcare centre.

Mr Teo also revealed plans for another SAFRA club to be built in the north-western part of Singapore, bringing the total number of SAFRA clubs to seven. There are also plans to enhance SAFRA Mount Faber by 2016, and to redevelop SAFRA Tampines by 2018, he said.

A new Home Team NS club in Tampines will also be built by 2016, while the upgrading of the existing Home Team NS clubs in Balestier, Chinatown and Bukit Batok will be completed in August this year, Mr Teo said.

World Cup 2014 - Live Screening at Punggol CC

New Safra Clubhouse in Punggol

SINGAPORE — A new SAFRA clubhouse will be built in Punggol as part of MINDEF’s continuing efforts to recognise National Servicemen and to cater to an increased membership.

This will add close to 20,000 square metres of additional recreational spaces for NSmen and their families to enjoy and bond.

Minister of State for Defence Maliki Osman announced this in Parliament during the Ministry’s Committee of Supply debate on Thursday.

When completed, NSmen and their families will have access to facilities at six SAFRA clubs located islandwide.

MINDEF will also be redeveloping SAFRA Tampines to include new sports facilities. In addition, the feasibility of a new SAFRA clubhouse in the northwestern part of Singapore will be studied.

This is to expand further the variety of offerings to more than 540,000 NSmen and their families who are SAFRA members today. CHANNEL NEWSASIA

Punggol flats most popular in 2014's first BTO exercise

SINGAPORE: Flats in Punggol proved popular with applicants in HDB's first Build-to-Order (BTO) exercise in 2014 despite their higher prices as compared to the others on offer.

As of 8pm on Tuesday, Punggol BayView, which is located directly across the Punggol Reservoir, had more than 1,400 applicants vying for some 460 four-room units.

That is twice the number of applications for some 400 four-room flats in Woodlands Glen.

The demand from singles for two-room flats in January's BTO exercise remains strong.

The two-room flats are the most highly-subscribed units in this exercise with demand mostly coming from singles.

Nearly 40 applications from singles were received for each two-room unit in Punggol Vue.

For the Woodlands Glen project, the rate was 16.2 for each unit.

The 3,139 BTO flats on offer in January is the first tranche of the 24,300 BTO flats that HDB has planned for 2014.

Extended Train Services for CNY 2014

North East Line
For the next two Saturdays, 18 and 25 January, the last train in the direction of HarbourFront will depart Punggol Station at 12.02am, Serangoon Station at 12.13am, Dhoby Ghaut Station at 12.25am, Chinatown Station at 12.29am and Outram Park Station at 12:31am. The last train towards Punggol will leave HarbourFront Station at 12:29am, Outram Park Station at 12.32am, Chinatown Station at 12.34am, Dhoby Ghaut Station at 12.38am and Serangoon Station at 12.50am.

Sengkang and Punggol LRT
Services on the Punggol and Sengkang LRT systems will also be extended to coincide with the last train arrivals on the North East Line for the two Saturdays, 18 and 25 January 2014. The last train on the Sengkang LRT will depart the Town Centre Station at 1.05am while the last train on the Punggol LRT will leave the Town Centre at 1.07am.
